The programme takes an innovative approach to the new challenge of sustainable development. It looks to Africa where some countries are poised to advance economic development while endeavouring to safeguard the environment. 

Shot on location in Mozambique, South Africa, Niger and Senegal, the documentary examines the countries not only through the eyes of government officials, institutions and NGO’s, but also through the eyes of ordinary Africans going about their daily lives.
