Global Investor series

Global Investor 3 - due to be transmitted in mid-2010
SUMMARY: We chart the progress of this SEZ since its inception in late 2006 and into the present day global financial crisis. Includes soundbites from the originator of the plan, former Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi, current Prime Minister Najib, the Chief Minister of Johor and new CEO of the Iskandar authority Ismail Ibrahim (one of the original planners). We gain insight into the strategy that has led to the region attracting $15billion in investment since 2006: is it location / expertise in sectors such as manufacturing and logistics / leveraging Singapore’s strengths in the services sectors? We also look at how the investment is translating into construction on the ground. And we talk to the Spanish company Acerinox, which is building a massive stainless steel plant in the zone – the biggest single foreign investment to date.
Global Investor 2 - transmitted in 2009 on CNBC Asia
SUMMARY: At the beginning of this year Global Investor travelled to Iskandar to look at the business opportunities blossoming in Malaysia's ambitious southern tip development. At the end of that show we hinted to the audience that we might back at some point in the future to see how those opportunities are developing. Well almost a year on and that time has come... you might be amazed to see how far the project has come.
RETROSPECTIVE: We open the show with a glance back to the first time we covered this project in March 2008. We remind our viewers of some of the ambitions and targets that the teams here in Malaysia had set themselves, and talk about what the government was trying to do when they conceived the plan. We look at any initial skepticism about such an ambitious project – and hint that our viewers will be surprised to see what we are going to reveal over the next half-hour
Global Investor 1 - transmitted in 2008 on Channel News Asia
